The Manion Forum List Items

Clarence Manion (July 7, 1896 – July 29, 1979) was an American conservative radio talk show host and dean of Notre Dame Law School. He hosted the radio show Manion Forum which later aired on television.

Clarence E. Manion graduated from St. Mary's College in Marion County, Kentucky in 1915. He received a Master of Arts in 1916 and Master of Philosophy in 1918 from Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. From 1917 to 1919, he served in the United States Army. In 1922, he graduated from the University of Notre Dame Law School. While still a law student, he was an instructor in American history. From 1922 to 1925, he practiced law with the firm of Walker and Walker in Evansville, Indiana. He became Dean of Notre Dame Law in 1941. He retired from the University in 1952.

He began a weekly radio broadcast from his hometown of South Bend, Indiana, titled The Manion Forum of Opinion. My calculations indicate that the broadcasts started in 1954; most probably in the month of October.

This collection includes the last 11 years of broadcasts and only 6 broadcasts from the 1954-1968 timeframe. I am interested in donations for any missing items. In addition to the broadcasts, there was a newsletter. This collection includes newsletters starting at Vol 9 in 1969 which means the 1960-1968 newsletters are missing. Typically there were 20-23 newsletters per year. The 15th Volume in 1975 contained 16 newsletters before it was re-branded as supplemental material related to specific broadcasts. 4 Supplementals were issued in 1975. The final 241 Newsletters and Supplements were obtained. Click "list items" to see them...
