The Birch Log List Items

In recent years, millions of Americans have come into contact with The John Birch Society. We believe that with few exceptions, our fellow citizens have discovered - if even to their own surprise - that the opinions, analysis and facts we disseminate deserve their time and attention.

We don't claim that those who appreciate our view on one subject will applaud our views on others. But experience has shown beyond question that a well-informed person wants to weigh the Birch position along with the many others he has become accustomed to receiving.

THE BIRCH LOG reflects the position of The John Birch Society on the timely issues of the day. The weekly columns contain thought-provoking and careful analysis which attracts readers and earns a newspaper the thanks of the community it serves.

Obviously, weekly newspapers are the most common carrier of THE BIRCH LOG. However, daily newspapers, college and school publications, trade journals, and other news carriers are cordially invited to give us a try.

Samples of THE BIRCH LOG appear inside this folder. Particulars about the column and a subscription blank are provided on the back page.

It would be our pleasure to supply THE BIRCH LOG to your readers. May we hear from you?

The Birch log was a weekly column written by John F. McManus from 1973-1996. It debuted on April 26, 1973. That year 36 pieces were published. From 1974 through 1995 there were typically 52 issues all in a single page, two column format but it could appear in print in practically any format at the publisher's discretion. Four volumes included 53 issues. In 1995, the publication was scaled back to a bi-weekly and on June 24, 1996 the final birch log was published.

In addition to its availability as a subscription column, full years of the birch log were packaged and available to JBS members and chapters under the title "What Really Happened in 19??" for each year of issue. The package included a folder of all the issues, a table of contents and an index for the year. This collection contains the birch log in full annual volumes and has been split into individual downloads. This is a 100% complete collection. Click "list items" to see them...
